ONE CRAZY WEEKEND

Above all things, we are so thankful and blessed to be alive and well. So we praise God!
This was a crazy weekend indeed.

It all started Thursday night when we were driving home from a friend's house. JA was driving and heading southbound on the SMP when a HUGE raccoon decided to race across the parkway. JA thought he could swerve around it and did but then swerved back so we wouldn't end up on the side of the road and then we hit the median (which was newly done btw) and then we spun out. our front bumper was on the road and we lost our license plate a few feet away. thank God no other cars were coming.

Ja jumped out of the car. I grabbed my cell phone and called 911. JA yelled to get out of the car and so I did and we stood on the side of the road. At that point, a young man stopped his car and tried to get his flares lit, while another man stopped by to ask if we were ok. The cops came shortly after that and JA and few big guys helped push our car to the side of the road. It was making some weird noises as it rolled. The tow truck came and then the ambulance came. The cop pulled our bumper out of the road and placed it on the side of the road... ugh. my car!

thanks to the L family and JC who came to stop by and see that we were ok... our car was not ok... so we went off to the hospital - my first visit in an ambulance was quite lovely indeed - all women were on duty that night and i felt very lucky. =) they were extremely pleasant and fun to chat with (obviously I was feeling fine - we went to the hospital to check to see that the baby was ok)... Got to the hospital - was checked out by a very low key dr and we were sent upstairs to the maternity ward. They looked me up to a fetal heart monitor and another monitor to see that the baby was ok. Thankfully - he is fine. after about a half hour - he was bouncing all over the place- my guess is my adrenaline caused him to bounce around a bit delayed but he's fine.

Then C and H picked us up and dropped us home at 1:30am.. we did all the paperwork for the insurance companies and then it was nice to be back home and safe in bed. What a night!

on saturday we decided to go car shopping.... so you're thinking - a new Civic, eh? no... we're looking at the minivans! ack! Not because we're scared to drive again but because we have to think long term... and we have parental input on this one. Both sides of the family want us to get a minivan - they think it's practical and safe so we went to look at the sienna by toyota and the odyssey by honda. The odyssey is nicer by far - both interior and exterior. But i never imagined that I would be under 30 and driving a minivan. so we decided which one we like - and now we just have to scrounge up the money and figure out the best price. We'd like to get one by the end of the month. So I guess that's our anniversary present this year! Happy third anniversary. =)

praise God that we're healthy and safe!
praise God that right now we can buy a new car.. sort of. and that it will be a minivan - now we can all travel together when we go out - as a family... or a friends.. you all can just pile in and rest comfortably.
